Skin…

Skin is the largest organ in the human body. It exists as an outer shell, a type of semi-permeable boundary, and it is therefore perhaps our most important contact with the world in which we live. Being comfortable in your skin is what some might consider the most transformative achievement necessary to be an active participant in this lifetime.

Aerial Pole Dance – an artistically refined showcase of the skin. An art form revealing many aspects of human intimacy and privacy by carefully and tastefully exposing or covering our skin.

Utilizing a completely stable, vertical, and metallic pole as the apparatus, a dancer is given the opportunity to convey the full spectrum of emotion – from rage to love, from love to sadness.  Pole dance, with its combination of extremes, sets up an ultimate potential for discourse between the divine masculine and the divine feminine.

Although it is an art form that has remote origins in every world culture, in modern times it has been limited to the confines of strip clubs. It is not my intention to disparage strip clubs, but it IS my intention to redefine this type of dance as a form of female empowerment, expression and appreciation that reaches beyond those walls. It is nothing to be ashamed of, and it is it is the very embodiment of emotive expression through music, movement and costume.
